The Five of Us, Spring 2014

The Five of Us, Spring 2014

Blah, blah, blather

Pea's ruby arrived this morning. It's HUU-UU-UUGE! And beautiful. Mmmm. It's a luscious color and has gorgeous natural characteristics. I'm a sucker for things with character--natural gems, old houses and antiques, handmade anything (well, nearly anything), dynamic friends. For someone I really love, I'd 10 times rather make a birthday cake (and they always taste tons better than they look!) than buy one. For new babies, I'd rather make a quilt than buy something from the registry. Perfection just smacks of falsehood to me. A "perfect" gem is not my cup of tea. A "perfectly" clean and tidy house makes me uncomfortable (we're quite comfortable around here, by the way!). And, "perfect" people really ruffle my feathers. I really just don't know how to act around those folks. So, I love that Aaron is making the boys' beds because they're one-of-a-kind (well, two, actually, depending on how you look at it). I LOVE the veneer we chose for the beds because it's so varied and "unpredictable" (I'll post pics when they're all made). I'm blathering...

On another note, we drove just a little ways out of town today for a playgroup at a beach. You might recall that we live in Idaho and beaches, as you would suppose, are difficult to come by. Yes, it's man-made (but I don't despise it). The kids loved it. The really funny thing though was Punk on the way up. We were driving along in the hills and along the river.
"Oooh. It's beautiful, Mama!"
"Yes it is!"
"Look at the beautiful water!"
"Mm-hmm."
"Mom, is that water or milk?"
Can you tell what choices he gets to make around here?! :)

Talk To Me

I blog for myself and my kids and I would do it even if no one else cared, but I do like to hear from you (and think it's a wee bit creepy of you to voyeurize us without my knowing it). So, please leave a comment from time to time, or email me anytime at xawilsons@hotmail.com. Much obliged, I'm sure.
