The Five of Us, Spring 2014

Now and Then

(Note: This message blurs the lines between my life as an adoptive mama and my life as an adoption professional. Sorry about that. Hope you can still respect the fact that this blog is about the adoptive mama.)

Due to craziness ensuing lately in Liberia regarding unethical/illegal adoptions (see Acres of Hope's official statement here: http://www.acresofhope.org/newsflash.htm), AOHL is launching a pro-adoption publicity campaign on Liberian tv and through her newspapers. Some of our adoptive parents are helping with this campaign by sending photos and stories. (If you want to help with this, contact me at the office.)

I pulled out these photos for the campaign and thought I'd share them here too. I continue to be amazed at the difference between the first photos I saw of Pea in January of 2007 and how she looks and acts now.

When Pea first came to the orphanage around Christmas 2006, she was 18 months old and weighed only 16 lbs. She was dismal and too weak to get around much. It's still a bit hard for me to look at this photo (below), but I hardly even recognize my Sweetpea here.

This, of course, is one year later, Christmas 2007. Just look at those plump arms and legs! She now weighs 28 lbs! She runs and jumps and bounces. She cuddles and listens to stories and is such a happy, delightful girl. I love seeing her the way she is today!

And, even better is seeing her with her bro-bro. Aren't they too cute together?!

Your children are adorable! You will have such a reward in heaven for taking care of some of His children here on earth - but I'm sure the reward you get each day being with them is enough! God bless you!

Great campaign and beautiful daughter (and son)! This is what adoption is about. Tanya

What an amazing difference!! My prayer is that they (Liberian gov) would open their eyes and see the truth about adoption.

Talk To Me

I blog for myself and my kids and I would do it even if no one else cared, but I do like to hear from you (and think it's a wee bit creepy of you to voyeurize us without my knowing it). So, please leave a comment from time to time, or email me anytime at xawilsons@hotmail.com. Much obliged, I'm sure.
