Progress--Flooring Weekend!
I can't believe how much we've gotten done this weekend, especially since we really didn't do anything yesterday! Saturday we completed the edges of the great room and study and laid all the flooring in the entry and living room! All that remains is the hallway back to the bedrooms! Well, that and the details like the transitions at the doorways, around the fireplace tile and from the laminate to the cork.
Aaron's been working on the quarter-round today (I helped a little), before and after the neighborhood pool party. Can you quess which 3 of us got burned through SPF 45 sunscreen?! Even Pea has "tanlines"!
Anyway, here's the photos... It's really starting to come together! I can't wait to move the furniture in! You can see the vapor barrier (blue) starting down the hall for the next big work day!
Here you can see, sorta, one of my other little projects. The previous owner put some fake "stained glass" paint-stuff on the glass of this door, the back door, and the Master 1 bathroom window. It's poorly done and in nasty nineties colors, so I'm picking it off. It's slow going, but it has to be done. I just have to keep telling myself that this is way better for the budget and the environment than throwing away the doors and buying new ones!
Now, does anyone know where I can get some cheap curtains for the great room? I've been looking everywhere I can think of (bedbathandbeyond, linens n things, sears, jcpenneys, overstock, world market, even lowe's) and so far, nothing strikes my fancy...

As much as I hate to say it and I normally avoid this place at all costs, we found some nice affordable curtains at Walmart. We were looking for some dark brown curtains that weren't see through, and they had exactly what we were looking for.

Have you tried domestications.com? I've had good luck with them in the past for cheap curtains and bedding. Good luck and have fun.
