The Five of Us, Spring 2014

The Five of Us, Spring 2014

Project Styles

We completed the assembly of the play structure, but A took off some of the features in order to apply a sealcoat. That should be dry, so we'll probably call it finished sometime tonight. Hopefully, it will be early enough to get a good photo for y'all. If not, I'm sure you can wait.

The funny thing is that A announced to me that he decided not to buy the wood for my built-in bookshelves (for the study) just yet. In fact, he said, he probably won't buy it until, say, fall or so. When I asked him why, he said, "Because summer's here and I'll want to be outside." Hmmm. So you can't buy wood because you want to play? It turns out that he CAN'T enjoy himself when there is a project hanging over his head. He would choose to work on the shelves instead of going out to play. So, he'd just rather not buy the supplies, then he doesn't have to overcome the urge to finish the project. He just can't stand to have projects unfinished!

I, on the other hand, am perfectly content to have several unfinished projects! I'm waiting for the white milk paint to arrive at the local store so I can finish my storage armoire. I'm trying (without a huge effort) to find someone to teach me to hand-quilt so I can finish Pea's quilt.... :) The whole house is a constant work in progress. And, I'm just fine with that. In fact, wait until you see what I just bought for the house! Once it's hung, I'll post pics!

I like his honest logic. :)

Hand quilting is super easy. Call a fabric store and ask for names of people that teach classes or give lessons.

Talk To Me

I blog for myself and my kids and I would do it even if no one else cared, but I do like to hear from you (and think it's a wee bit creepy of you to voyeurize us without my knowing it). So, please leave a comment from time to time, or email me anytime at xawilsons@hotmail.com. Much obliged, I'm sure.
