Stair Saga, Part Three
We've (that's the royal "we"--it was totally Aaron's hard work) made a lot of progress on the stairs this weekend and they are looking GREAT!!!
Removing the old treads was easier than we predicted. Aaron cut each one into three pieces and out they came.
Then, he put a fresh coat of paint on the trim.
Fitting the first few stairs. The bottom one was the hardest because it fit under the trim.
Taping everything off was such a bother. I love what painters' tape does for a project, but I dread applying it. Getting it around the curves of the bull nose--uuuugh (I actually did work on this step with Aaron!)
Here's the first coat of stain.
And the final coat.
Here you are looking down at the bottom two steps (top) and the floor we were matching the stain to (bottom). Pretty excellent match, eh? Aaron is so good!
Three coats of poly with sanding in between and the treads will be done. The wallpaper should be in late this week, just in time to put it on next weekend!
