Punk', Pea's Babies

Yesterday a box came in the mail and I immediately knew it must be Pea's dollies. Punk got excited when he saw the box, so I let him help me open it. When he pulled back the flaps and saw the babies' heads, he gasped, "Oooooh!!!" We reached in and pulled them out, one falling to him and one to me.

Punk pulled "his" into a loving embrace and said, "Dis is my baby. Dat is yours." Relaxing the hug, he began to look over both babies. "Mine is sweeping; yours awake. Mine has hearts. Buttons on yours." It was really cute.

I asked him what his baby's name was. He cocked his head and put his finger next to his lips. "I don't know...." He kept thinking and thinking but couldn't come up with anything. Finally, he just said, "I take them in bed with me tonight." How sweet is that! But I felt I had better burst his bubble. "Punk, you may take these babies to bed tonight, but they're really Pea's dollies and she will want to take them to bed with her when she comes home."

I was surprised at his reactions all along, but at this point he just set the babies down and went to play with diggers in the sandbox as if to say, "Oh, okay. Thanks for letting me have my fantasy, but I'll leave them for Pea now." Most of the time, my boy seems all boy to me, but seeing him baby his Bear and his reactions to the baby dolls just amazes me.

You know I read your blog everyday but don't often comment. Anyway, my oldest son is now 8 and will play anyday with his sister and her babies! He is so mad that the Life Of Faith doll series doesn't make a boy doll and he wants to write the company about it!LOL. I just say, "hey, he'll be an awesome dad with all this practice!" And then next thing you know his sister is screaming because big brother is playing robbers and stealing everything from the barbie house! I just love em!
