The Writing on the Wall (or Fridge)

Yes. I allow my children to draw with markers on the fridge. In fact, I do it myself (well, I don't draw, but I make notes, grocery lists, phone numbers, etc.). With a Vis-A-Vis marker, it just wipes off with water and a paper towel.

Pea's art is still in the scribbling stage. But, she's one fine-fine scribbler!

Punk has drawn here an "Indian Dinosaur" (the tall one on the left), a swimming pool (top right), and something else (I forgot what he told me, but it was definitely something! Kinda reminds me of the video-game creatures from my youth!). He also wrote their names on there. But, he was not curteous enough to use the blog-approved nicknames; hence, I had to use my graffitti tool (poorly, I know) to disguise them, but I did want to show off how he's doing with his letters. Not bad, buster! Some helpful hints if you want to try this yourself:

1. If you have the bumpy, old-style fridge (we were lucky enough to inherit this nice fake-stainless one with the house), just cover in clear contact paper first; it helps smooth it out--nicer for both writing and cleaning.

2. Use the "overhead" markers, not dry-erase.

3. I used to have a "sitter-list" on my fridge. I printed one off with all the blanks and taped it to the naked fridge. Then, I put the clear contact paper over that. Whenever a sitter was coming, I could fill out all the instructions that pertained to that particular event.

4. Along the same lines, you can use Sharpees on your contact paper for permanent writing and it will last through many, many wipings of the Vis-A-Vis.

Talk To Me

I blog for myself and my kids and I would do it even if no one else cared, but I do like to hear from you (and think it's a wee bit creepy of you to voyeurize us without my knowing it). So, please leave a comment from time to time, or email me anytime at xawilsons@hotmail.com. Much obliged, I'm sure.
