The Five of Us, Spring 2014
Chicago
The kiddinkidinks and I just got back from a week in Chicago to visit my folks. My mom just had her knee replaced a week before we arrived, so we came to help her heal! It was also nice that my dad had all his kids (except the one-in-law) with him for Father's Day.
In the basement of the museum is a "family center." There was a section where the kids (and adults) could wear animal costumes and learn about their lives. Here's Robin-Pea flying onto the scene!
Happy Skunk Dance!
And the fox ran away with the skunk!
One last skunk shot. After riding the train back to Joliet, we headed back to the city by car (yeah, not necessarily efficient, but the kids wanted to ride the train!) to go to my sister's Chicago Women in Trades picnic. It was funny, as always, to see the reactions of people who had forgotten I existed and/or had never seen me before. I still don't think we look that much a like, but I guess your expectations dictate what you see. I offended one poor woman when I didn't respond to her when she said, "Hi Sarah." I didn't even hear her! Guess I'm out of practice!
It's good to be home, but some reprogramming is in order. Changing the routine is so hard on all of us (well, except Pea--she takes almost everything in her stride!).
Friday we rode the train into the city to go to the Shedd Aquarium. I had brilliantly planned my trip to coincide with "free week" at the aquarium (actually, I used Orbitz's fare finder gidget that allowed me to find the cheapest 7-day trip within a 30-day window--you can tell it how long you want to be gone. Pretty cool!). A lady on the train told us that her family had waited 1 1/2 hours the day before to get into the Aq. When we got there, there were people on every square inch of concrete around the place! It was amazing. There was also a beautiful storm front boiling over the city, headed right toward us. So, we went next door to see the pirates at the Field Museum. I didn't have my camera, but my sissy had hers.
Here she is with a pirate and the kiddinkies! He looks a little too serious for this crowd!

I think they were sleeping, with their "legs" all tucked in, but they look a little like roadkill!

The kiddinkidinks had a good time playing with the balloons. In fact, I think they had hours of fun with them! The biggest "kid" in this picture is my sister's fiance--he's great with them. Tuesday we went to Legoland, just me and the kiddinkies. We had a good time, though I was a little frightened at first. We had a 2.5 hour block to be there and we cruised through the first couple of exhibits in no time flat. But, once we got to the interactive play areas, they were easily occupied. These pics were taken with my camera phone, so I apologize for the quality.
Out in front, this man was lounging. My kids crawled all over him. He didn't seem to mind.
Here's Pea. Busy building something! And, Punk at work.Outside the "4D" movie theater, the kids built tall towers while waiting for the movie to begin.Apparently this lion eats Punkins. We didn't expect to see President Obama at Legoland. But there he was. :)

Talk To Me
I blog for myself and my kids and I would do it even if no one else cared, but I do like to hear from you (and think it's a wee bit creepy of you to voyeurize us without my knowing it). So, please leave a comment from time to time, or email me anytime at xawilsons@hotmail.com. Much obliged, I'm sure.
