The Five of Us, Spring 2014

More Numbers and Other Stuff

This probably going to sound silly, but I'm going to tell you anyway! Last night we went to a charity dinner for Genesis World Mission/Garden City Free Clinic. It was the first time either Aaron or I had been at such an event. It included a silent and live auction--with a real, professional auctioneer! It was really cool, but (here comes the silly part) I told Aaron afterward that that was probably the only time in my life that I've ever understood numbers better than words! Really, WHAT was he saying?! :)

Auctions are really an internal conflict of interest for me. On the one hand, I love a good deal. On the other, I really like to win! Since it was for charity, I went with the "winning" side last night and we came home with a pretty amazing print of African animals. Now....where to put it?

And, while we're on the topic of decorating (do you like how I'm weaving all this together?!), I told Aaron that I now need to paint Pea's room pink, pink, and more pink. He was not in favor. Oh, it wasn't the pinkness that bothered him. It was that he JUST painted Punk's room (which will be Pea's). That was THREE whole years ago! OK, so the paint still looks great, for blue paint. But, it's totally unsuitable for my pretty girl! So, I guess I'll let him paint the boys room which is bigger and I'll get a girlfriends' painting party together and do Pea's room. Unfortunately, all our ceilings are that nasty 70's cottage cheese stuff and it's currently painted bright yellow. Not jiving with my mental plan, so I guess the girls and I will have to paint that too--it's notoriously difficult. First things first, though. I have to clean out that spare room so we can move Punk over.... Anyone good at organizing and storage solutions?? (I thought a spare room was a great storage solution!)

Paint is SOOO temporary, and relatively cheap! I think I've recovered enough from my last nursery-painting marathon, I'm ready to help. Name the time - we can paint and pray and prepare for your little princess (and prince too!).

Talk To Me

I blog for myself and my kids and I would do it even if no one else cared, but I do like to hear from you (and think it's a wee bit creepy of you to voyeurize us without my knowing it). So, please leave a comment from time to time, or email me anytime at xawilsons@hotmail.com. Much obliged, I'm sure.
