Sorry I couldn't resist the title! In church today I was thinking about a verse and thought maybe it was at Numbers 23:19, but that turned out to be a completely different verse (never did find the verse I was looking for!). I think I was "meant" to "stumble upon" Num 23:19, actually. Here's what it says:

God is not a man that he should lie
Nor a son of man that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfull.

Ah, that is restful to my soul. As I've been conversing with God about Pence's situation, this verse just confirms that God has not changed his mind about bringing Pence into our family.

In addition to that confindence booster, there was also a tongue and interpretation during service today. The message was about the Goliaths in our lives and how we have power to fight them because of Jesus in us. Obviously not a new revelation, but timely for me (and others). Not wanting to lose the peace I have felt from God about Pence's process, I haven't been a good warrior. The truth is I should be a brave, confident, active warrior like David, battling not worldly enemies, but spiritual forces of darkness. And, not because I'm that precious boy's mama but because I'm that precious God's daughter. I mean, that peace that God is covering all of this comes from surrendering it to him--not just surrendering! The peace was never a resignation that "whatever will be will be" but I did allow it to lull me into a docile state. The peace that God is in control should be driving me onto the spiritual battlefield for my family, swinging my slingshot at every force of evil that is withholding that child from his destiny and every thing that threatens that girl from achieving wholeness.

One stone in my pouch: "God is not a man that he should lie or change his mind. He has promised and he is fulfilling." Take that, Goliath!
