The Five of Us, Spring 2014

Holding

I told Aaron last night that since we've been in holding pattern with Pence for so long, it sort of feels like a permanent state now. It isn't that I've lost hope or even really the expectation that he'll come home. It's that I've lost the hope and expectation that he'll come home SOON. When Patty and Donna get back from their 3 weeks in Liberia in mid-March we'll have a clearer picture of what to expect and I think I'm just hanging on til then. Then I'll know what to anticipate. Then I can start planning for his homecoming. Then, then, then. Hmmm. I think I need to speak with God and get his perspective again. I don't think He's waiting for mid-March!

I also told Aaron last night that I feel a need to draw up a list of all the things we need to do before Pence and Pea come home--acquire carseats/boosters, clean out the "spare" room (will be the boys' room), get boosters for the kitchen table, purchase two new wardrobes, etc. I think that might also shake me out of the holding pattern. :) (But, I'll talk to God first!)

I walked into Punk's room earlier this morning to get Bear out of his crib for him. An overwhelming desire for a coat of pretty pink or lavendar paint washed over me. What will Aaron think?! We had discussed leaving the nursery as is. It's a gender-neutral Noah's Ark theme with blue walls (the paint color is called "Cinderella's Ballgown" but it's not that shade at all!) and a bright yellow ceiling. When "baby girl" was an abstruse idea, it was all well and good to leave things gender neutral. Now that we "know" Pea, now that I see how beautiful she is, now that I see her delicate, feminine features, I want to fill that room with pink billows and lacey pillows! I want to fill that closet with ruffley dresses and "twirling skirts" (even though I know it will be a while before we're twirling together). I want my beauty to be surrounded by beauty!

About 9 months ago when we started all this, I kept telling everyone, "I think I'm a boys' kinda Mama." Now look at me! I'm so glad we decided Punk and Pence needed a sissy! :D

Popped over from big sis Anita's blog and just had to say your daughter is BEAUTIFUL and there is nothing wrong with a girly girly room. We have cream walls but her bedding is bright red for the contrast. If Mia wasn't legally blind we may have went more with girly things but we made it work through high school if she allows it to stay...lol. Anyway just wanted to drop you a line. I am addicted to blogs and always looking for more. And since I don't have a lot of african blogs you can be one...lol. BTW Mia is from Guatemala.

Talk To Me

I blog for myself and my kids and I would do it even if no one else cared, but I do like to hear from you (and think it's a wee bit creepy of you to voyeurize us without my knowing it). So, please leave a comment from time to time, or email me anytime at xawilsons@hotmail.com. Much obliged, I'm sure.
