The Five of Us, Spring 2014
Weekend with Dottie
Remember this fall when we got to have Pickles the Farmer Dog for the weekend? Well, Pickles retired and Dottie the (Giant) Ladybug came to take his place. Friday, Punk's class went to visit a real kindergarten class. When we arrived at the elementary school, Mrs. Jones (Punk's teacher) handed Dottie to him. He was thrilled already to be visiting kindergarten and was just about through the roof that it was also his weekend with Dottie.*
I stashed Dottie in the Big Blueberry and we headed into the elementary school. Punk had a great time and is now more excited than ever to move up to "real school." Here he is with some of his current classmates waiting to go into the elementary school.
Saturday morning I got to sleep in. Daddy made pancakes...and then helped the kiddinkidinks (and Dottie!) prepare Mother's Day gifts for me. Punk's drawing is of a pirate map! Can you see the island and red "bolcano"?
Saturday afternoon, we built a fort,
played with blocks,
and goofed around!
Oddly enough, the sitting for the free family portrait we received as a thank-you for donating to the the volunteer fire department was scheduled for Sunday. So, we went to the fire department after lunch. A super nice volunteer let the kids play around in the fire/rescue trucks.
And, try on real fire-fighter's gear!

I think Dottie had a pretty good visit!
*Dottie is a class "pet" who visits with a different pre-schooler each weekend. The student brings Dottie back the following Monday, having added a page or two to her journal.

Talk To Me
I blog for myself and my kids and I would do it even if no one else cared, but I do like to hear from you (and think it's a wee bit creepy of you to voyeurize us without my knowing it). So, please leave a comment from time to time, or email me anytime at xawilsons@hotmail.com. Much obliged, I'm sure.
